  • Caffeinated, Whipped Cream-Packed and Ready to Go – Breakfast Coffee Smoothies

There’s nothing more cozy than starting your morning with a hot cup of coffee before you venture out on a chilly Monday morning.

But wait – it’s almost summer, the temperatures are up, and it’s too hot to think by 9:00 AM. Wait again – it’s a sunny autumn day, and it’s still too hot for a hot cup of cuppa.

This is why we love breakfast coffee smoothies – they are packed with caffeine and can be combined with countless other goodies, like protein powders, fruit, flavours, and homemade whipped cream. It’s practically a coffee, breakfast and dessert in one. What better way to get you going in the morning? You’ll be like a human nuclear plant of energy!

Here are some amazing breakfast coffee smoothie recipes to get you out the door and tackle your day like a champion.

Coffee-infused whipped cream

Let’s start with the garnish. If you’re iffy about adding whipped cream to your breakfast, this homemade coffee whipped cream hack should win you over.

This recipe goes beyond “just a smoothie addition,” and you can make it if you’re looking for a great dessert topping.

Pair this whipped cream with chocolate cake, brownies, vanilla ice cream, coffee ice cream, or salted caramel ice cream. The sky is the limit here – wherever you need an extra kick of caffeine and a coffee flavour to balance out the sweetness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (cold)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules (or more!)

Equipment:

Coffee-infused whipped cream

Instructions:

  1. Chill the Siphon: Place the whipped cream siphon head and canister in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using. Cold cream whips better and creates a lighter texture.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Pour the cold heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and instant coffee granules into a small bowl or measuring cup.
  3. Dissolve Coffee: Whisk or stir the mixture gently until the powdered sugar and coffee granules are completely dissolved. Don’t overmix, as this can activate the whipping agent in the cream prematurely. Easy does it!
  4. Fill the Siphon: Strain the coffee cream mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into the chilled siphon canister. This will catch any undissolved coffee grounds that could clog the dispenser nozzle.
  5. Charge the Siphon: Screw the head on tightly onto the canister. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, insert one N2O charger into the charger holder and screw it firmly onto the head. You might hear a hissing sound as the gas pressurizes the canister.
  6. Shake & Dispense: Give the siphon a good shake for about 10 seconds. Hold the canister upright and point the dispenser nozzle downwards towards a bowl or cup to test the consistency. If the cream isn’t thick enough, give it another short shake (5 seconds).
  7. Pipe & Enjoy: Screw on your desired decorating tip onto the chilled siphon head. Point the nozzle down towards your coffee drink or dessert and gently squeeze the handle to dispense the fluffy coffee-infused whipped cream.

Bonus Round: You can mix the instant coffee with other treats before you infuse – cocoa powder, a dash of cinnamon,  and vanilla extract make this coffee whipped cream really pop!

Banana boost coffee smoothie with classic coffee whipped cream

This coffee smoothie wanders into the healthy territory and is a delicious and energizing way to start off your day. It combines the rich flavour of coffee and the sweetness and smoothness of banana and nut butter and gets a protein boost if you choose to add your favourite protein powder.

Alert: Remember to freeze your bananas ahead of time for this recipe! Frozen bananas can become ice cream all on their own, and the riper, the better.

Ingredients (Smoothie):

  • 1 cup brewed coffee (chilled)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 tablespoons nut butter (peanut, almond, cashew, etc.)
  • 1 scoop protein powder (optional)
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

The trendy, functional smoothie for your tastebuds and your brain

.Trends are always changing, and the craze for adaptogenic mushrooms has arrived. Mushroom powders are becoming increasingly available in health food stores and online retailers – they usually come flavoured with chocolate or vanilla and can be used in smoothies as well as hot drinks.

Adaptogens are a class of herbs and fungi that are claimed to help the body adapt to stress. Mushrooms like Reishi, Chaga, and Lion’s Mane have been used in traditional medicine for centuries, and modern research is starting to explore their potential health benefits. While more studies are needed, some preliminary research suggests adaptogenic mushrooms may help with anxiety, fatigue, and even cognitive function.

But we’re not here to judge or challenge trends – we’re just here for the smoothies!

Alright, we’ll add another trend to the mix while we’re here – skyr. Skyr is a thick and incredibly creamy yogurt. It’s a traditional yogurt of Icelandic culture and can be sweet in taste.

trendy, functional smoothie

It’s a good source of B vitamins, and calcium and is especially high in protein content. It has become popular enough that you can most likely find it at your local grocery store.

Now, you are ready for your trendy smoothie:

Ingredients (Smoothie):

  • 1 cup brewed coffee (chilled)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • 1 scoop adaptogenic mushroom powder (Reishi, Chaga, or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup plain skyr
  • 1/4 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • Drizzle of honey (optional)
  • 1 vanilla bean

Ingredients (Vanilla Latte Whipped Cream – see previous recipe for detailed instructions):

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (cold)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment:

  • Blender
  • Whipped cream siphon with N2O charger (optional)
  • A small bowl or measuring cup (for whipped cream)

Instructions (Smoothie):

  1. Combine all smoothie ingredients (coffee, frozen banana, protein powder, adaptogenic mushroom powder, skyr, milk, scraped vanilla bean and honey if using) in your blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Assembly:

  1. Pour the smoothie into a chilled glass.
  2. Dollop a generous amount of whipped cream on top of the smoothie.
  3. Drizzle with honey (optional).

Alert:  The taste of adaptogenic mushroom powders can vary. Start with a half scoop and adjust to your preference! If you substitute skyr for Greek, make sure you compensate with sweetness, as Greek yogurt tends to be a bit more tangy.
